my teal deer, let me show you it.
So, okay, wooooo! Tony/Pepper OTP! Etc. GETTING ALL THE SQUEE OUT MY SYSTEM COS I LOVE THEM SO HARD.
Now to the nitty gritty, because holy shit, what an open-ended finish. I think the big thing right now, for me and how I'll write her going forward, is will she actually resign as CEO?
As of now, until or unless we hear otherwise from TPTB on what'll be canon, I'm going to assume she changed her mind, and/or Tony convinced her not to resign. Couple of big reasons for that.
1. Frankly, I love her as CEO, and I want her to keep being CEO. I think she'll do a great job - clearly she's been doing it since Stane's death, more or less, because since when has Tony ever really stepped up to that plate?
2. If she did resign, her options are what? Go back to being Tony's PA, where she was basically acting as CEO anyway, just, you know, in the background. And if she's going to now also be his, er, girlfriend (wow Pepper is so weirded out by that term being applied to her and Tony), that's more than a little skeevy (and the fact that she was his employee was one of the many, many, many reasons why she never kissed him before). The other option is to, like, quit and do something else entirely (like what? be someone else's PA? I doubt she could manage that with Tony in her life...) or just do nothing. And be arm candy for him. If they actually did that canonically, I would probably wash my hands of the whole thing, because ew. No way, no how.
SO YEAH. I'm trusting Favreau, et al. to do the right thing by Pepper and let her keep being CEO because that's the option I like and that's how I intend to write her because it works best for me.
Any thoughts, questions, or suggestions? Let me know.
